Shiatsu Therapy
The word shiatsu means 'finger pressure'. The principles of shiatsu are very similar to the principles of acupuncture, but instead of using needles, the shiatsu therapist uses finger or thumb pressure to stimulate the body's own healing powers. Acupressure is used to balance invisible energy pathways in the body called meridians. Meridians are like traffic highways running throughout the body, each having a specific function. Throughout our lives as we encounter stresses, traumas, accidents, or adopt poor health habits, the traffic or energy along these pathways gets interrupted, stagnated or rerouted. We experience this as pain, discomfort, fatigue, and dis-ease. Shiatsu re-establishes the energy flow, enhancing and re-stimulating the body's natural healing process.
Shiatsu helps:
- rejuvenate and restore the body's Ki (vital essence)
- release energy blockages
- enable the body to find a new and healthier state of balance enhance immune functions
